A drug addict hacked his 5-year-old son to death with a parang (a type of machete or cleaver) at their flat in Puchong Permai,Malaysia on Monday afternoon, August 13.
The boy, who was sleeping in the living room at the time, was hacked three times on the head and right wrist by his 35-year-old father.
A witness contacted the police at 5.45pm after finding the boy’s bloodied remains near the 4th floor unit.
“An initial investigation revealed that only the suspect and the victim were at home when the incident happened. Police retrieved the weapon, a parang, in the flat,” Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Azlin Sadari said in a statement last night.
The boy’s body was sent to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
Azlin said the suspect had claimed that “voices” told him to kill his son.
“It is believed that the suspect is addicted to ketum. He also tested positive for methamphetamine. In addition, he has a criminal record related to drugs,” he added.
