Man appears in court for allegedly selling expired beverages

The Police on Thursday arraigned one Thomas Ogar in a Kubwa Grade I Area Court for allegedly selling expired beverages.

The police
charged the defendant, who lives in Kubwa village Abuja, on one count of selling poisonous foods and drinks.

The prosecutor Babajide Olanipekun told the court that the defendant was arrested by a team of policemen on patrol on Dei-Dei road,  Abuja on November 20.

He said the defendant was arrested in a white vehicle with the expired beverages, which were unfit for human consumption.

He added that the offence contravened the provisions of  Section 187 of the Penal Code.


The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The Defence Counsel, Gabriel Esegine prayed for the court to grant his client bail on the most liberal terms.

The judge, Abdulwahab Mohammed, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one reliable surety resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

He adjourned the matter until January 23 For hearing.
