He believes previous governments failed to make use of Nigeria's 'tremendous resources' to fix the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari says his government is actively trying to organise Nigeria, noting that the country has suffered from years of mismanagement under the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP).
While playing host to a group from the southeast region of the county under the aegis of One on One Nigeria at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, the president said previous governments failed to make use of Nigeria's 'tremendous resources' to fix the country, especially infrastructure.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, on Wednesday, October 7, he's quoted as saying, "We are trying to organize the country. The extent of mismanagement we met when we came was mind-boggling.
"Many times, I have spoken about the tremendous resources available to us between 1999 and 2014, and how it was frittered. If only they had used just 25% of it on infrastructure; road, rail, power, Nigerians would mind their own businesses, and not bother about whoever was in power.
According to the leader of the group, Chief Chido Obidiegwu, President Buhari has done great work across the country, especially in the southeast. He promised that the president will be rewarded for his first term achievements with votes from the region to clinch a second term victory in the 2019 presidential election.
"We have seen the work being done on the long-abandoned Second Niger Bridge, roads are being constructed in many parts of the region, and we believe there is every reason to support you for a second term," he said.
He also described the president as the grandfather of war against indiscipline and corruption, nightmare of insurgents as well as "Mr Food Security, consolation to pensioners, and Mr Frugality".
He said the One on One Nigeria group will mobilise youth groups, women, artisans, traders, religious groups in the southeast to massively vote him for second term in anticipation of an Igbo president in 2023.
