Transfer Balls: Yerry Mina speaks out on Barcelona future amid Everton interest

Positive for Everton? Everton may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Barcelona defender Yerry Mina after he commented on his future. The Colombian defender is the subject of much interest from Marco Silva at Goodison Park who is looking to overhaul his squad. That doesn’t mean that it will be easy to seal a deal for him though, with Barcelona seemingly slightly reluctant to let the player go permanently. Though, the arrival of Sevilla defender Clément Lenglet will mean he would be quite far down the pecking order at the Camp Nou. That has lead to thoughts that the player could leave in order to get minutes on the pitch and Everton look the most viable option right now. Spoken out Now, the player himself has spoken out about a potential move after he returned from the World Cup. Safe to say, Everton fans will be encouraged by his comments in which he explained he wants to play for a team where he can get regular time on the pitch. ‘I want to play for a team

World Cup 2018: No Wholesale Changes Against Belgium, Says England Coach Gareth Southgate

Gareth Southgate insisted that England would take the game against Belgium for the third place play-off seriously. England coach Gareth Southgate will not make wholesale changes to his team when England play Belgium in Saturday's third place play-off at the 2018 World Cup. The game for the third and fourth places has been seen at times as unnecessary and unpopular with teams who have suffered the disappointment of losing their semi-finals and missing out on a place in the final, but speaking to reporters on Friday, Southgate insisted that England would take the game seriously, reports Efe. "It's obviously been a couple of really difficult days for us, but I've got to say the players are incredible," said Southgate, who said England would not relax against Belgium as they look to seal their second-best finish ever in the World Cup. "We owe it as much to ourselves as to the nation that we finish the tournament well," he said. Southgate made nin

Kieran Trippier fit to play for England vs. Belgium despite groin injury

Kieran Trippier is fit to play for England in the World Cup third-place game against Belgium after training with the rest of the squad on Friday. The Tottenham Hotspur defender limped off in extra time of England's 2-1 semifinal loss to Croatia on Wednesday with a groin strain, having given his team the lead from a free kick in the fifth minute. Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker, who were also fitness doubts after being forced off in the additional period against Croatia, also trained to ensure that Gareth Southgate will have a full squad to pick from against Belgium. Southgate has not yet indicated whether he will rotate his team for the game, but back-up goalkeeper Jack Butland said he would love to make his first World Cup appearance in St. Petersburg. "You're never gifted an England appearance, but if I play, then that's brilliant," Butland said in a news conference. "I've done my best out here. I've tried to support Jordan [Pick

Golden boot hopefuls Kane, Lukaku fail when it mattered at World Cup

Harry Kane began this World Cup, 24 hours before England's opening game against Tunisia in Volgograd, by claiming he wanted to leave Russia with a "big gold trophy." Barring a World Cup final hat trick by Antoine Griezmann or Kylian Mbappe, or a similar display of finishing by Belgium's Romelu Lukaku in Saturday's third place playoff against England, Kane will likely get his wish and lay his hands on the Golden Boot as Russia 2018's top scorer. Of course, the England captain was speaking about the glory of lifting the World Cup, and as unlikely as it seemed back in Volgograd, he will fly back from Saint Petersburg on Sunday morning pondering just how close he came to doing that with Gareth Southgate's team. Had he scored his first half chance against Croatia in the semifinal, when he hit the post from two yards with England leading 1-0, Kane could now have been just 90 minutes away from emulating Bobby Moore by hoisting the World Cup aloft as

Remember the woman with frozen lashes that went viral? She's in the same spot, suffering heat and mosquitoes

In January, a woman from Yakutia, Russia, took a photo in minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit weather when her eyelashes froze. Six months later, she's in the same spot, suffering sweltering heat and covered in mosquitoes. ANASTASIA GRUZDEVA In January 2018, a woman from Yakutia, Russia, posted a photo that went viral of her frozen eyelashes, completely white with frost in extreme sub-zero temperatures. Now, six months later, another one of her selfies is taking off, but it is vastly different than the frozen eyelash photo. Her name is Anastasia Gruzdeva and she's still in Yakutia, but temperatures in that part of Siberia these days are too hot, not too cold, and she is covered in mosquitoes instead of snow. Gruzdeva posted the summer selfie on Monday, when temperatures reached the 90s. The photo shows mosquitoes covering her face and chest as she stands in a field of flowers. What makes summers so difficult in the region is the swarm of mosquitoes that infiltrate the are

More voters from every party see Russia as friendly: Poll

More voters from every party are viewing Russia positively, just days before President Trump is scheduled to meet Russia President Vladimir Putin, a new poll shows. According to a Morning Consult/Politico poll released Thursday, 29 percent of all registered voters see Russia as an “ally or friendly” to the U.S. The number of those holding this positive view increased 7 percentage points from a poll conducted a month earlier, when 22 percent had that opinion. This trend continued for Republicans, Democrats and independents. Republicans and Democrats both saw an increase in those who saw Russia as a friend by about 10 percent. However, a majority in each party still see Russia as an enemy. Independents are less swayed, with only 3 percent more respondents seeing Russia as a friend. Mr. Trump said at a NATO press conference that he sees the country as a competitor, not an enemy. As many speculate how the president will handle the foreign leader, Mr. Trump confirmed he

‘It’s on tape’: The internet hammers Trump for blaming recorded criticism of Theresa May on ‘fake news’

President Donald Trump retreated from his criticism of British prime minister Theresa May while standing next to her during a joint news conference — and Twitter users buried him in scorn. The president wrecked May’s fragile position in the unfolding Brexit debacle during a harshly critical video interview with the Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper The Sun, but dismissed his own recorded remarks the following day as “fake news” when asked about them by a reporter. Trump refused to take a question from a CNN reporter, accusing the network of broadcasting “fake news,” and moved on to a Fox News reporter, and also reaffirmed his criticism of May after denying those remarks. Kylian Mbappé: the fast learner who takes it all in his rapid stride

Kylian Mbappé has terrorised defences at this World Cup to take France within one win of repeating their 1998 triumph, when he was not even born. Photograph: Petr David Josek/AP He made his debut for Monaco aged 16, became the world’s most expensive teenager at 18 and will play a World Cup final on Sunday at 19. Can anything stop the rise of Kylian Mbappé? The life of the little football geniuses sometimes has all kinds of discord and anger. Kylian Mbappé has been through this and is bound to be held responsible for the conflicts in his early career. But this kid, deeply devoted to the game, seemed stronger than anything, on the field and off it, as he prepared from a young age to navigate the pitiless environment of football. “His father Wilfried has videos of him as a child, in which he tells his story,” says family friend Alain Mboma. “He is four years old – four years old! – and he described the journey he wanted to take.” “I was a dreamer when I was younger,” Mbappé confi

Ayodele Fayose: This is absolute Scamming, You are not at the Event

According to my source, Fayose was never at the venue of the event. The mayhem, says my source, was caused by Fayose's refusal to pay the promised bribe of N5000 to Okada operators and N10000 to Danfo drivers in order to surrender their PVCs and to be off the streets so that APC supporters would have no means of transportation to get to the APC rally

Drake shoots music video on double decker bus in London and nobody notices

Drake seems to have taken to London very nicely as he has used some of its iconic landmarks including Piccadilly Circus to shoot a new music video. Spotted riding a red double decker bus, tourist below were oblivious to the Canadian rapper dancing to his tune above in new footage that’s emerged. Instead, they seemed more taken with a street performing just outside of the tube. Drake, who was a surprise guest at Wireless on Sunday night followed by Wimbledon to cheer on his ex Serena Williams, took the opportunity of a few days in town to shoot some scenes as he was pictured on the iconic red bus. Watch the girl run after Drake at the end (Picture: Newsflare) While most people didn’t know the 31-year-old was nearby, he was seen by one eagle-eyed fan who ran towards the bus while screaming his name. ‘It’s just @drake filming on a bus in London. As you do. #drake #music #video #london #doubledecker #bus #fans,’ they said. Meanwhile, earlier this week it was rumoured that

Twitter shakes up Android app in light of bigger phones

Twitter’s Android app is getting a small redesign. The company has confirmed that it is moving the app’s navigation bar from the top of the screen to the bottom, which should make it easier to get around the app in today’s massive smart phones. The announcement (via Android Police) came in a Tweet from Twitter’s support account, and follows similar moves from other app developers. We’re launching a new bottom navigation bar on Twitter for Android. With this update, you’ll be able to quickly navigate between all of your tabs with ease! — Twitter Support (@TwitterSupport) July 12, 2018 It’s not a massive change, but the news will be welcomed by anyone who’s grown tired of having to stretch their thumbs over the massive screens that adorn most modern smart phones. Of course, this brings an end to the historic divide between the iOS and Android versions of the Twitter app. Android has always had the nav bar at the top, and iOS has always had it at the bottom. That’s just th

Game Of Thrones Quietly Broke An Emmy Record Yesterday

You thought Game of Thrones was going to stay out of the news because they have us in a two-year long dry spell? Well, you thought wrong! Game of Thrones garnered an impressive number of Emmy nominations yesterday (22, the most of any program) but one nomination in particular actually made history. Peter Dinklage, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, is now the actor to have the most nominations in that particular field. Dinklage has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for every season that Game of Thrones has been on the air. That's seven nominations — more than any other actor. With this record, Dinklage surpasses Ed Begley, Jr., Jimmy Smits, Will Geer, and Bruce Weitz, who have all been nominated for supporting actor in a drama series six times. Dinklage won the Emmy in 2011 for the first season, and he later won it again in 2015. He is the only actor on the show to win an Emmy for his work, although a number of his

Adobe plans full Photoshop for iPad in 2019

Above: Photoshop Fix on iPad Image Credit: Adobe After multiple half-steps over the past eight years, Adobe now plans to launch a full version of its popular photo editing app Photoshop for the iPad. Bloomberg reports today that the app will likely be debuted at Adobe’s MAX conference in October 2018, and hit the market in 2019. Photoshop has remained one of the most important applications for creative professionals for decades, and is the core offering of Creative Cloud, a Mac and PC subscription service that leases access to Adobe’s apps. The computer version of Photoshop offers powerful image editing tools that have evolved slowly but surely over the years, notably adding AI to “fill” empty spaces with modified versions of adjacent content. According to the report, the iPad version of Photoshop will be the same as the Mac and PC app, as part of Adobe’s strategy to boost subscription sales by making its apps work across multiple devices. Adobe’s head of Creative Cloud Sc

Fifa tells broadcasters to stop zooming in on attractive women in World Cup crowds

Fifa has ordered broadcasters to stop zooming in on attractive women in the stands at World Cup matches, to help tackle sexism in football. Before the tournament kicked off there were concerns that Russia 2018 could be tarnished by homophobia and racism – but sexism has arguably been the biggest issue. Asked about the cameras focusing on telegenic female fans, Fifa’s diversity boss Federico Addiechi said:  “Some cases arose and they were pretty evident.” Sexism crackdown He defended the stance by football’s governing body, saying it wants to stamp out sexism.  Addiechi stopped short of saying it was now official policy to outlaw the telly practice, but he admitted:  “This is one of the activities that we definitely will have in the future. It’s a normal evolution.” He said it was not yet part of a “proactive campaign” but added: “We’ll take action against things that are wrong.” Harassment The anti-discrimination group Fare Network has been working with Fifa to monitor be

YouTube TV apologizes for World Cup downtime with a free week

Subscribers on the $40 per month plan will get $10 off. In the middle of Wednesday's World Cup semifinal match between England and Croatia,  YouTube's live TV service suffered an unfortunately-timed outage (not unlike ones we've seen from Sling or  Hulu ). Naturally, it enraged YouTube TV subscribers who had picked up the service specifically to catch live broadcasts like that game, and now it's offering an apology in the form of a credit. In an email that went out to customers, YouTube TV promised a free week, which for customers on its standard $40 per month plan should amount to $10 off. It also noted that DVR'd recordings of the full match should be available in the Library -- if you can stand to watch that one again. Hey everyone -- sincere apologies for streaming issues with YouTube TV.
