Manchester City couldn’t build on the win over Liverpool FC as they lost to Southampton 1-0 at St Mary’s this evening in the Premier League thanks to Che Adams’ wonderful long-range goal.
City beat the new champions last time out, but Pep Guardiola is likely to make changes to that side as he keeps his squad fresh for the FA Cup semi-final with Arsenal in a fortnight.
That could mean a rest for Kevin de Bruyne, who impressed once again vs Liverpool, while David Silva and Bernardo Silva would be expected to come back in after dropping to the bench for that game. Phil Foden, so impressive since the restart, might get the chance to continue in the team. Fernandinho returns in defence after serving a two-game suspension.

Guardiola will once again be without Sergio Aguero, who is injured and recovering from knee surgery, while Leroy Sane has completed his move to Bayern Munich.
