A snake eaten by a fish was snapped living inside the animal’s mouth. Angler Dan Boudrie photographed the grotesque scene after catching the bass in Tennessee earlier this month. Boudrie said the snake’s head had been looking up at him after he opened the bass’s mouth, although the slithering animal had moved around by the time he’d chopped the fish’s head off and got his phone out, meaning the snake’s face was out of sight.
Dan told Tennessee’s Wildlife Resources Agency: ‘The head was looking at me right before I took this picture. ‘I thought it was cool but wondered how I would explain to an ER doc that I got bit by a snake from putting my fingers in a fish’s mouth.’
Dan didn’t say what he did with the fish or snake after. His unusual encounter was shared by the Wildlife Resouces Agency to warn other anglers to take care when removing hooks from any fish they catch. A spokesman explained: ‘It’s almost #Halloween and it looks like the year 2020 is at it again. ‘It seems that some fish are playing tricks on us, with no treat! Be careful when you reach your hand in a fish’s mouth! You never know what might be in there.’
