Oye Owolewa, 31, becomes the first Nigerian to be elected to the United States Congress after winning the run to represent Washington DC in the House of Representatives.

A Nigerian man living in the United States has been elected to the States’ Congress.

Oye Owolewa, 31, under the Democratic Party ran to represent Washington DC in the House of Representatives, and won, making him the first Nigerian to be elected to the United States Congress.

Oye Owolewa is a native of Kwara State, his father hails from Kwara State and mother is from Oyo.

Oye is a PhD holder in Pharmacy from the Northeastern University, Boston.
