Nigerian Online Comedy Group, Ikorodu Bois and Emmanuella have received a nomination for the 2021 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards under the category of Favourite African Social Media Star.
Ikorodu Bois is a popular Nigerian group, known for recreating and mimics multi-million dollar music videos, Hollywood movie trailers, and epic pictures with household items.
They caught the attention of the producers of the Hollywood movie, Extraction 2, the Russo Brothers, following the remake of the movie trailer which features Chris Hemsworth.
Russo Brothers in a tweet expressed their excitement at the remake and invited the Ikorodu Bois to the world premiere of their Netflix action film sequel.
Reacting to their nomination, the group took to their Twitter handle to share the good news with their followers. They wrote
“Good news! we have just been nominated for a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award.? plssss guys vote for us”
They were nominated alongside Emmanuella Samuel, a.k.a Emmanuella, a 10-year old comedian from Markangel comedy – Nigeria, Bonang – South Africa, Ghetto kids – Uganda , Elsa Majimbo – Kenya, Wain Van Den berg – south Africa.
The Ikorodu Bois made up of Babatunde Sanni, Muiz Sanni, Malik Sanni and Fawas Aina, have recreated videos featuring celebrities such as Roddy Rich, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Zlatan, Funke Akindele, Wizkid and Davido.
Ikorodu Bois were recently featured on Steve Harvey’s TV show.
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is an annual American children’s awards ceremony show that is produced by Nickelodeon. The show honours the year’s biggest television, movie, and music acts as voted by viewers worldwide of Nickelodeon networks.
