Ghanaian actress, Rosemond Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo has been convicted over the publication of her nude photos with her 7-year-old son during his birthday photoshoot.
The actress who had displayed her naked pictures with her son on social media on June 30, 2020, was arraigned on three count of publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence, a conduct that in any way undermines another person’s privacy or integrity and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.
Akuapem pleaded “not guilty” when was first arraigned but changed it “guilty” when re-arraigned on Wednesday, April 14. She was then convicted by Her Honour, Christiana Cann of Accra Circuit Court on her own plea.
EIB Network’s Court Correspondent, Murtala Inusah reported that the court has deferred her sentencing to Friday, April 16 for her to undergo a pregnancy test in compliance with the law regarding a woman who has pleaded guilty in court.
The Ghanaian actress, Akuapem Poloo has earlier apologized for the controversial photo of her going naked in front of her son. However she also explained her reason and tried to justify it by sharing photos of others who have done same.
The actress organized a birthday photoshoot for her son’s 7th birthday where she was stark naked in front of her son. She explained that she gave birth to him naked, and as such stands naked before him
The photo earned her criticisms but she didn’t take it down from her Instagram page though she later shared a video apologizing over the incident.
Child Rights International went on to petition the Inspector-General of Police in Ghana to investigate Akuapem Poloo over her nude photo with her seven-year-old son
in a statement by Child Rights International, the non-governmental organisation deemed her act as a ‘violation of the welfare principle of the Children’s Act and abuse of the child’s right to privacy and dignity.’
