  A kidnappers’ den has been discovered behind a police checkpoint along Auchi-Abuja expressway.  The discovery was made on Thursday December 2. 60 members of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Kaduna, kidnapped by suspected bandits have regained freedom after spending one month in captivity.  They were kidnapped on October 31 by bandits who killed three of the victims and left two others critically injured after demanding ransom. Kaduna State Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)’s Chairman, Rev Joseph John Hayab confirmed their release. Hayab who did not reveal if any ransom was paid, said nine other people abducted from a different village were also released alongside the church worshippers on Friday evening. The CAN Chairman said the church told him the release members were taken to the barrack by soldiers after being released. He said;  “Yes, the Kakau Daji church members have been released according to the Church last night and the Church told us that they played a vital role; so I commend them for that."

An explosion was witnessed at 1000 Housing Estate in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, on Saturday morning, December 4. Residents believe the explosion was triggered by Boko Haram fighters and this has reportedly sparked tension in the area. Daily Trust also reported that a rocket launcher landed at Gomari Airport, a community about four kilometres from the airport located in the state capital. Residents of the estate were seen discussing the incidents in groups in one of the houses affected by the explosion, in a video shared online. A resident of the area told Daily Trust that no life was lost.  A military source further told the publication that troops of 33 artillery, Njimtelo, opened fire when they sighted insurgents on the outskirts of Maiduguri and this led to a gun battle.

 Mrs. Deborah Okezie whose son, Don Davis, was allegedly sexually assaulted and tortured while he was a boarder at the Deeper Life High School, Akwa Ibom, has slammed parents who allegedly flew their kids abroad after they were accused of torturing Sylvester Oromoni, their school mate at Dowen college. Sylvester died on Tuesday in very controversial circumstances. In a Facebook live chat, Mrs Okezie called for justice for Sylvester Oromoni. She said as a mother and one who has a child that was assaulted by his school mates, she cannot keep quiet when such a thing happens. She demanded justice for Sylvester who she referred to as ''my son''. She called on state and federal government to ensure boarding schools have well-equipped hospitals as well as CCTVs mounted in their schools. The Nigerian Navy has said that its personnel and comedian, Cute Abiola is serving a one-month punishment for ridiculing the Nigerian police.  The Instagram comedian was arrested on November 15, 2021, but has been released from detention to serve his ‘light corrective punishment’ in the cantonment. According to the Nigerian Navy, he was placed on one-month ‘extra duty’ for wearing police uniform in one of his skits and for ridiculing the Nigeria Police Force in the process. He is expected to end his punishment by December 15, 2021, and would be allowed to return home to his family. Naval spokesperson, Commodore Suleman Dahun told Punch's Saturday Beats that Cute Abiola was given a light punishment of a ‘one-month extra duty’ after a military trial. Dahun said;  “Cute Abiola has been placed on one-month extra duty after he was tried. He will be in charge of cleanship; supervising painting, electricians, carpentry, cutting of grasses, and others. On Friday, December 3, LIB shared the story of how a middle-aged man was assaulted and accused of turning two students into tubers of yam at Bashorun area of Ibadan the Capital City of Oyo State. The man who was confirmed to be a mentally deranged person was alleged to have turned two pupils of Bashorun High School into tubers of yam, and this resulted in mob attack by some irate youths in the area that almost took his life. She said her husband who is now dead, brought the young man over and introduced him to her as one of his relatives from the village. A housewife in Nasarawa state, Mrs Justina Agbumi has narrated how she was impregnated by her husband's biological son who she identified as Godwin.  Agbumi who was childless for 19 years prior to the incident, blamed the affair on a frosty relationship with her husband.  The lady told The Nation that her curiousity to establish whether she was indeed barren as claimed by her husband, pushed her into allowing the young man that was staying with them to sleep with her, not knowing he was the biological son of her husband. John Cardinal Onaiyekan, a former Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, has raised fears that Nigeria may split before 2023 because of the sad realities in the country, including security challenges. The representative was called to give a speech at the program organized by House on The Rock. His speech was however disrupted by the angry Nigerians who booed him and asked him to leave the stage. The senior pastor, Paul Adefarasin, had to apologize to the Lagos state government after the incident.
