 A 35-year-old Kenyan man who married a white woman twice his age, has revealed that he paid her bride price.  Bernard Musyoki who married 70-year-old Deborah insisted that his love is genuine in an interview with a local publication, and also disclosed that he paid paid Ksh100 as her bride price. Musyoki said they met on Facebook in 2017 and was he supposed to travel to the US to meet her in 2018, but was denied a visa. He said;  I sent her a friend request, after a week, I asked her to marry me and she accepted. We even exchanged vows inbox." They kept communicating, and on December 29, 2020, the woman decided to travel to Kenya to meet her prince charming. ISWAP kidnap another set of passengers in Borno

An unspecified number of passengers have been kidnapped by fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa Province(ISWAP) along Damaturu / Maiduguri highway.  The passengers were heading to Maiduguri in Borno State from Damaturu in Yobe, when they were intercepted a few kilometres after Benishiek town. The incident occurred around 8:30am on Saturday December 11.  A security source told Daily Trust;  “Yes, there was an attack on motorists this morning along Damaturu/Maiduguri highway, these senseless people abducted an unspecified number of passages around Benishiek and Mainok axis. We don’t have more details than this.”  Chairman Northeast Network of Civil Organization, Amb Ahmed Shehu also told the publication that he received reports of the abduction. Shehu said;  “Yet another abduction in Damaturu -Maiduguri route this morning. Why can’t we have a sustainable solution to this reoccurring misfortune?”

Victim of Sokoto bandit attack dies in hospital after narrating how her mother and children burnt to death in the bus attack

One of the initial survivors of the bandit attack in which 23 passengers of a bus were burnt to death in Sokoto state, has died after narrating her ordeal.  The 30-year-old woman who was receiving treatment at the Usman Danfordiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, for burn injuries before her death, had revealed that her mother and children were victims of the attack.  ecounting her ordeal, the woman identified as Shafa’atu had said there were 33 elderly persons and many children in the vehicle when it was attacked by armed men believed to be loyal to Bello Turji, a notorious bandits’ kingpin terrorising the eastern part of Sokoto. Shafa'atu said the bandits opened fire on the vehicle, forcing it to somersault.  Assassinated Katsina state Commissioner of Science and Technology, Dr Rabe Nasir has been buried.  The Commissioner was killed on Wednesday December 8, at his residence in Fatima Shema Estate, Katsina metropolis.  Nasir's body was interred at the Gidan Dawa cemetery after a funeral prayer led by the Chief Imam of Katsina GRA mosque, Dr Aminu Abdullahi Yammawa. His funeral prayer was attended by  Katsina state governor, Aminu Bello Masari, and the federal government delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Maj Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd).

Yobe police command denies claim of troops rescuing 20 police officers

 Yobe police command has debunked claim of troops rescuing 20 police officers attached to the command.  According to the command, "the story or news item is misleading, an utter fabrication and fake news, as no single police personnel was kidnapped from Buni-Yadi town on the day of the alleged incident." The state police spokesperson Dungus Abdulkarim also said that it is disheartening that the "misleading story is alleged to have emanated from military sources." The statement read;  It’s disheartening to note that this fake news/story has been published in many media outlets, without seeking for clarification from the requisite Police Authorities. A woman has been brutally mocked online due to her swollen lips after treating herself to cosmetic injections. Briana Garabet, from Los Angeles in US, wanted to achieve fuller and plumper lips so she decided to pay to get a lip treatment over the Thanksgiving weekend. However, soon after she came out from the beauty parlour, she felt her lips swelling up on her way back home. When she took off her face mask hoping to see the lips she wanted, the 22-year-old was shocked to see her lips looking disfigured. She posted photos online and joked: "Am I mask-fishing?" You guys, I just got lip filler and it's so f***ing swollen. Is this bad?" she added. Some assured her that the swelling will go down with time but others mocked her. Troops kill 62 terrorists, 192 terrorists surrender in two weeks – Defence Headquarters

The Defence Headquarters has announced that 62 bandits in the Northwest and North Central geo-political zones were killed by troops in the last two weeks.  Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brigadier-Geneneral Bernard Onyeuko who gave an update on military operations between November 25 and December 9, said 192 terrorists, including children, also surrendered in the two regions within the period. The 192 people who surrendered were mostly relatives of the terrorists and they include 51 adult males, 67 adult females and 74 children. Onyeuko revealed that Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa, Rann/Rumirgo villages and Biu, Bama, Mafa and Dikwa Local Government Areas of Borno were where some of the terrorists surrendered to troops. Those who surrendered were properly profiled and handed to appropriate authorities for necessary actions.  28 terrorists were also arrested, while 54 assorted arms and 144 rounds of different calibre of ammunitions were recovered. Chairman of Global Fleet Group, Jimoh Ibrahim has lost an appeal challenging seizure of his 12 assets and freezing of all his accounts by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). President Buhari dispatches Monguno, DSS DG to Sokoto and Katsina following spike in killings

Worried by the spike in killings, President Buhari has dispatched a high-level delegation of security and intelligence chiefs led by the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Munguno rtd to Sokoto and Katsina states. The President disclosed this in a statement released on his official social handles this afternoon. He said he expects the delegation to provide recommendations on actions to take so as to effectively deal with what is no doubt a worrying situation in the states. On Monday, 23 persons were killed after bandits opened fire on a commuter bus in Sokoto. On Thursday, armed bandits killed the Katsina state Commissioner for Science and Technology in Katsina state, Rabe Nasir, in his apartment. Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange can be extradited to the US, court rules

Wikileaks editor-in-chief Kristinn Hrafnsson said in a statement: "Julian's life is once more under grave threat, and so is the right of journalists to publish material that governments and corporations find inconvenient. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange can be extradited from the UK to the US, the High Court has ruled. The US won its appeal against a January UK court ruling that he could not be extradited due to concerns over his mental health. Judges were reassured by the US promises to reduce the risk of suicide. His fiancee said they intended to appeal. Mr. Assange is wanted in the US over the publication of thousands of classified documents in 2010 and 2011. Senior judges found the lower judge had based her decision in January on the risk of Mr Assange being held in highly restrictive prison conditions if extradited. However, the US authorities later gave assurances that he would not face those strictest measures unless he committed an act in the future that merited them.

Telecom services still banned in seven Katsina LGAs - Masari

Suspension of telecom services remains effective in seven out of the 17 Local Government Areas of Katsina, as confirmed by the state government.  Director-General Media to Governor Aminu Masari, Alhaji Abdu Labaran in a statement released on Friday December 10, said the affected 10 LGAs are: Kurfi, Dutsinma, Matazu, Musawa, Malumfashi, Dandume, Bakori, Funtua, Kafur and Danja. Noting that the state government passed a crime prevention order which suspended telephone services in 17 local government areas, Labaran further averred that the order also prohibited the use of some roads in the affected areas and the transportation of firewood within the state.  President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the assassination of Katsina State Commissioner of Science and Technology, Dr. Rabe Nasir.  Reacting to the killing via a statement released by his media aide Garba Shehu, the President  describing it as a heinous and condemnable act. President Buhari said that he is deeply anguished by the tragic killing of the up-and-coming leader who had served his community, state, and the nation with utmost diligence. “My thoughts are with the bereaved family,” the president said. He urged law enforcement agencies to do a thorough investigation and bring to justice all those behind the crime.

Insecurity: Youths Stage Protest Over Widespread Killings In The North [Video]

Following the insecurity and menace of banditry in the Northern region of the country, some youths stormed the streets to stage a peaceful protest to lament the killings. Although Nigeria is currently facing a high wave of insecurity, bandits and terrorists have stepped up attacks in the north despite the efforts of the government to contain them. Doctors approve Queen Elizabeth's Christmas party after health fears

Queen Elizabeth has been told by doctors she can host her annual Christmas party with her family.  The 95-year-old monarch has missed a number of engagements in recent weeks after being hospitalised for an undisclosed condition and then suffering a back sprain, but medics have now approved her plans to stage her annual private bash for extended family members, the Daily Mail newspaper reports. This year the party will take place at Windsor Castle, where the queen has spent most of the pandemic, instead of Buckingham Palace, where it has been staged for several decades.
