According to the statement, Buhari, as a loyal and committed party leader, will support and campaign for APC candidates and will support the party to enforce discipline and coordination.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday promised to work for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s general election.

He reiterated his loyalty to the ruling party, stressing that he will not betray its candidates during the poll

President Buhari, who warned those trying to undermine the interest of the party to desist, emphasised that they are on their own.

He also warned officials of the Presidency against making controversial comments that are capable of hurting the image of government and chances of the APC. He said their utterances were inadvertently providing the opposition with grounds to undermine and reduce the chance of APC and its candidates.

The Presidency, in a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said President Buhari, by his nature, will not side with anyone hurting the interests and chances of the party. The statement advised those who have defected from the party and those who have taken the party to court to pull the brake.

According to the statement, Buhari, as a loyal and committed party leader, will support and campaign for APC candidates and will support the party to enforce discipline and coordination.

“The Presidency wishes to put it on record, and at the same time, reassure faithful party members that President Muhammadu Buhari remains a ‘disciplined soldier’ of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and will, in all the coming elections, support only those candidates fielded by the party and no other.
