This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, SP. Adewale Osifeso, on Saturday.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Adebowale Williams, in the company of his entourage, embarked on an on-the-spot assessment of the “Maya Junction”, the auto-crash site, where two vehicles conveying more than Twenty passengers collided and erupted into flames on Friday in Lanlate, Ibarapa-East Local Government Area of the state.

While paying an unscheduled visit to Awojobi Clinic and General Hospital, Eruwa, where the survivors of the carnage were being provided medical intervention in the company of Hon. Gbenga Obalowo, Executive Chairman of Ibarapa-East LGA, Williams appealed for stakeholders/communal partnership in ridding the excesses and carelessness of motorists and other road users.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, SP. Adewale Osifeso, on Saturday.

The CP also warned that it shall no longer be business as usual, highlighting indiscipline as a major contributory factor responsible for the needless loss of lives often recorded.

According to him, the Oyo State Police Command, in a concerted effort with the Federal Road Safety Corps, Vehicle Inspection Office and the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, would commence the enforcement of all traffic regulations across the length and breadth of the State with commensurate sanctions for defaulters.

The CP noted that discreet investigation into the cause of the accident is intensified, adding that efforts are in progress to identify the deceased victims with the assurances of updates provided accordingly.
