The mother, who said she married Sulaimon after the death of the victim’s father, told the police that her daughter informed her of how her husband “has been having sex with her since the 14th of October 2022.”

According to the Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the woman said “the suspect has been threatening to kill her if she reported the incident to anyone.”

Upon the report, Oyeyemi explained that the DPO of Owode Yewa division, CSP Muhammed Baba, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene where the man was arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime, but blamed it all on the devil’s handiwork,” Oyeyemi stated.

While disclosing that the minor was taken to the Idiroko General Hospital for medical attention, Oyeyemi added that the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, has directed the transfer of the case to the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State CIID for further investigations.
