Two farmers have been allegedly attacked by suspected herdsmen at Ifira-Akoko in Akoko South East Local Government Area of Ondo State. The victims were hospitalised and in critical condition after the incident. Operatives of the Nigeria Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested 11 undergraduates of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma over alleged criminal conspiracy, cultism and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms. He said the suspects were arrested in July at different locations in Epkoma following credible intelligence on activities of cult groups in the area. The hands of a man identified as Malam Bisallah were been chopped off by bandits in Wadu Kauran village, in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Details of the incident are still sketchy at the time of filing this report, but according to witnesses, the bandits attacked the village and rustled cows, sheep and other animals. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU on Thursday reacted after parents proposed to pay N10,000 each per session to end the ongoing strike action. The National Parent-Teacher Association of Nigeria had proposed to pay the union a minimum of N10,000 per parent in every academic section in an effort to end the lingering industrial action. People of the South East have been told to bury their dead ones within three days. Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) made the call saying this was the practice in the olden days. The group in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, on Wednesday, said the practice of not burying dead ones within three days had caused ‘moral decadence and all manner of evil’ in Igboland. The group said the only corpses that should be allowed to stay in the mortuary for more than the stipulated period were those under investigation or with court-related matters. A young girl who was just years old was declared dead only for her to wake up at her funeral. The three-year-old girl woke up at her own funeral after doctors allegedly wrongly told her parents she had died from a stomach bug. Camila Roxana Martinez Mendoza was declared deceased 12 hours before the service on August 17 but began to stir while trapped inside the coffin. In a cruel twist, the youngster passed away again after being dashed back to hospital by her mortified relatives.
