PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, had a closed-door meeting in Abuja last night, to resolve their differences. The Nation reports that at the meeting, Atiku pledged to support Wike’s presidential bid in 2027 if Wike agrees to sheathe his sword and support him (Atiku) in the 2023 election. The duo and their supporters have been locked in a face-off since June when the former vice president overlooked Wike and picked Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate. The police in Adamawa state have arrested a 22-year-old man identified as Benedict Musa Haziel, for allegedly stabbing a man known as Luka, to death during a quarrel over his fiancee, Blessing. The 22-year-old indigene of Nasarawo Jereng in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area had paid N15, 000 to Blessing’s family as an indication that he wanted to marry her. He got angry that the deceased was also hitting on Blessing. Kenyan police officers on October 1, arrested a 42-year-old man, Nicholas Mwiti Nthiga accused of killing 34-year-old Geofrey Muriungi Makara, in Ntabuta Village, Matakiri Location of Nkondi Ward, Tharaka Nithi county. Muriungi had picked up a quarrel with the accused over fish on September 30, 2022. It was gathered that the deceased approached Mwiti who was selling fish and wanted to buy but did not have money. After a quarrel ensued between them over the fishes he was touching, Muriungi vowed not to pay and even dismissed well-wishers who offered to pay on his behalf. This angered the suspect who picked a cutlass and attacked him with it. The body of the deceased was taken to Marimanti Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy, while the weapon was recovered from Mwiti’s residence with blood stains on it.

The have been identified as Abiodun Bamidele ‘m’ aged 48, Olumide Faleye ‘m’ aged 45 and Toyin Adekoya ‘f’ aged 49. A young lady had a horrifying microblading experience that left her with severe eyebrow injuries. A woman was crushed to death by a wardrobe in Liverpool’s Adelphi Hotel. Chloe Haynes, 21, reportedly mistook the door of the wardrobe for a toilet door in the middle of the night. She was found dead in her hotel room at around 6:30am on September 10, after emergency services rushed to the scene. The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), has confirmed the electrocution of one of its members of staff in Calabar. Fortunately, the staff survived. The PHEDC staff was carrying out electrical works at Army Junction, on the Muritala Mohammed highway in Calabar, when he was electrocuted. A video from the scene trending online shows spectators gathered at the foot of the electric pole to watch the electrocuted officer who was motionless at the top of the pole. Officials are then seen positioning two ladders which two electrical staff climbed to get to the injured official and carry him down. Mr Collins Igwe, Regional Manager, PHEDC, said the staff was taken to the Navy hospital for treatment. He was revived at the hospital and has now been discharged.
