The disbursement of the redesigned N1,000, N500, and N200 bills finally commenced on Thursday, over three weeks after they were unveiled by President Muhammadu Buhari. Recall that Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had on October 26 announced plans to redesign the N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations, while also declaring that the old notes would cease to be a legal tender by January 31, 2023. Explaining why the policy had become pertinent, the CBN governor said redesigning the three series would help in tackling inflationary problems, currency counterfeiting, insecurity, and other issues bedeviling Nigeria. Emefiele added that introducing the new notes will allow the apex bank to mop up currency-in-circulation and stifle ransom payments to kidnappers and terrorists. The new governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola, took an N18 billion loan after the July governorship election in the state. Famous Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has revealed what led to her separation from her ex-husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz. In a recent interview with LegitNG, the famous actress said that she and her husband’s dreams and visions for their marriage were no longer in sync. According to her, they had decided to call it quits since there was no longer any point in staying together, and all their efforts to make it work proved abortive. In her words; “Well, the truth is our dreams and vision of what our marriage should be just no longer aligned. And efforts to make it work all fell on deaf ears, so why hang around.” It would be recalled that her husband, JJC Skillz had announced their separation in June.
