Banks run out of fresh naira, while ATMs are still issuing old notes due to the increased demand. The disbursement of the redesigned N1,000, N500, and N200 bills finally commenced on Thursday, over three weeks after they were unveiled by President Muhammadu Buhari. Recall that Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had on October 26 announced plans to redesign the N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations, while also declaring that the old notes would cease to be a legal tender by January 31, 2023. Explaining why the policy had become pertinent, the CBN governor said redesigning the three series would help in tackling inflationary problems, currency counterfeiting, insecurity, and other issues bedeviling Nigeria. Emefiele added that introducing the new notes will allow the apex bank to mop up currency-in-circulation and stifle ransom payments to kidnappers and terrorists. A Zimbabwean couple have been arrested for killing their newborn baby and dumping the corpse in a trench.  The child’s parents identified as Samson Jackson (46) and Martha Gomo (32), appeared in court on Thursday, December 1, on charges of infanticide. In a recent interview with LegitNG, the famous actress said that she and her husband’s dreams and visions for their marriage were no longer in sync. According to her, they had decided to call it quits since there was no longer any point in staying together, and all their efforts to make it work proved abortive.
