A Nigerian national identified as Chinwuko Ugochukwu Augustine, has died after he was allegedly attacked by taxi drivers in South Africa. It was gathered that some Nigerian nationals were attacked by taxi drivers in Benoni, a town in Ekurhuleni municipality, Gauteng province on December 9, 2022.  The victims were  allegedly whipped with sjamboks and machetes in front of the police station, leaving them with serious injuries.  Chinwuko sustained multiple stab wounds during the attack and was rushed to Glenwood Hospital where he died on Wednesday, December 21.  Angered by the death, a group of Nigerians and other African nationals gathered outside the Benoni Police Station on Wednesday night to protest the killing.  Police were forced to use rubber bullets to disperse the crowd outside the station.  The group demanded that the police launch a manhunt for the victim’s killer. The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, on Thursday. Aregbesola felicitated Christians and all Nigerians all over the world. He enjoined them to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ in deeds and follow his teachings, especially on faith, hope and love. Aregbesola reminded Nigerians that 2023 was an election and political transition year, and they should make it successful by voting peacefully and avoiding anything capable of undermining the exercise.

The Ghanaian government says it will issue visa on arrival to travellers entering the country from December 22, 2022, to January 15, 2023. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, the country’s transport minister, made this known in a circular issued on Thursday, Dec. 22, and addressed to all airlines. The move is aimed at advancing the government’s “beyond the return” initiative, Asiamah said. The initiative is a 10-year project to promote tourism and homecoming of Africans and Ghanaians in the diaspora, and to foster economic relations and investments from the diaspora in Africa and Ghana. The circular reads: “Following consultation between the ministry of foreign affairs, the ministry of interior, the ministry of tourism, art and culture, Ghana immigration service and the Ghana tourism authority, approval has been given for passengers travelling to Ghana to opt for visa-on-arrival waiving the requirement for prior approval. “This arrangement is effective from 22nd December 2022 to 15th January 2023.” “

In the post titled: ‘The full story of my missing daughter, Precious Korshima’, Jerry said that a Port Harcourt-based woman identified as Mrs Nelly Okoroafor approached him in March 2022. Mrs Okoroafor pleaded with him to give her his daughter to train in school through her friend, Mrs Ujunwa Benaihils and in return, the minor would look after Mrs Ujunwa’s newborn baby. He agreed and sent his daughter to Mrs Ujunwa, who lives in Enugu State.
