A community leader, Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi and his nephew have been killed by bandits at their residence in Unguwar Mai Awo village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The bandits also abducted four other women, including a nursing mother during the attack in the community located near the popular Maraban Jos along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway.
It was gathered that the bandits stormed the community in the early hours of Wednesday, January 11, 2023, shooting sporadically to terrify the villagers.
A source from the community, Abdullahi Auwal, said two members of the community were injured during the attack and they were later taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.
“They (bandits) killed a community leader and also Chairman of Fityanul Islam First Aid group of the area, Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi and his nephew Zakari Yau. Four women including a nursing mother were also abducted by the bandits,” Auwal explained.

Adamu said Hussaini’s wife escaped with her child as they were being led by the bandits to raid another house in the area.
The bandits who came in their numbers armed, proceeded to Anguwar Salanke and abducted another resident identified as Baba Na’ibi, while injuring other people identified as Ahmad and Musa.
He said;
“Actually, one of the victims was hit by a stray bullet when the bandits shot into the window of the house of Baba Na’ibi, while the second was injured by the shattered window pane of the house.”
The two injured victims were taken to the hospital. Jere emirate council’s secretary, Malam Aliyu Zubair who confirmed the attack, said six people were abducted in the area based on the information at his disposal.
