A sick Nigerian woman in desperate need of surgery is declining blood transfusions due to her beliefs as a Jehovah's Witness. Despite the urgency of her condition, she remains steadfast in adhering to her religious principles.

Nigerian philanthropist, Chigozie Effe, is seeking advice on what to do after a critically ill woman who is in dire need of urgent surgery in Delta State declined blood transfusion as it's against her belief as a Jehovah's witness. 


“Update. Lydia has bluntly refused to accept blood transfusions saying it's against her belief as a JEHOVAH WITNESS. However she opted for a blood capsule which didn't go well with the doctors due to the time and the urgency of the proposed surgery," he said in a Facebook post on Friday, July 21.

 

"Furthermore doctors handling her case in Delta said she needs five pints of blood in order to kick off with the surgery. We are in confusion as to how to handle this case as the doctors both at the private and public hospitals said her blood is low and cant be worked upon and tine us running out. What do we do?”
