Examining Gender Roles and Decision-Making in Relationships: Perspectives from a Botswana Polygamist Pastor

A pastor in Botswana, known for practicing polygamy, recently shared his perspective on the decision-making dynamics within relationships. 

Through a Facebook post accompanied by photos of himself with his two wives, the pastor asserted that it is men who ultimately decide the number of wives they want. In his statement, he also emphasized the importance of women having the agency to determine when they want to become pregnant and how many children they can carry. 

The pastor called for mutual respect between genders, urging men to refrain from violating women's reproductive choices and women to respect men's decisions regarding marriage and the desired number of wives. The intention behind the pastor's post was to promote understanding and encourage respectful dialogue on these matters within relationships.
