Nigerian music producer, Samklef has suggested that Afrobeat musicians should concentrate on writing tracks that make listeners adore the genre rather than experimenting. A Nigerian lawyer, Jibrin Okutepa, has slammed claims that Peter Obi spreads fake news. The two children of a couple allegedly set ablaze alongside their grandmother, simply identified as Iforiti, in Ondo did not die but are still alive. This was revealed by the Ondo State Police Command. The 75-year-old woman was reported to have set ablaze her son, Victor; his wife, Rachael; and the couple’s two children at Aponmu community in the Akure South Local Government Area of the state on Sunday. Nafisa Abbas, a housewife, has been dragged to court in Abuja. The woman, on Friday, appeared before a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for allegedly causing grievous harm to her neighbour. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the police charged Abbas, 20, with voluntarily causing grievous harm and inciting disturbance. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Mr Olanrewaju Osho, told the court that sometime in December 2022, the defendant poured hot water and beans on the victim, who was her neighbour, thereby causing her injuries. The incident happened behind ECWA Church, Karu, Abuja. The prosecutor said the defendant had been brought to the Karu Police Station on several occasions for inciting public disturbance and had been warned by the police to desist from the act. A 48-year-old native doctor identified as Ezekiel Buba, has been arrested by the police in Adamawa state. He was arrested for allegedly killing a mentally challenged man identified as Alamisa, brought to him for treatment at Gombiyel in Shelleng Local Government Area of the state. Buba who was paraded before newsmen by the police on Thursday, March 23, accused a demon of slaughtering the deceased. Oluwaseun Osinbajo, the driver of the staff bus involved in a collision with a train, is set to be charged with manslaughter by the Lagos State Government. The collision occurred on March 9 at the PWD railway crossing in Ikeja, the state capital. The bus, which had employees of the state government onboard, was then dragged by the train which eventually came to a stop in the Sogunle area of the state. The incident left six persons dead and 96 others injured and hospitalised across government hospitals in the state. Osibanjo was immediately apprehended and handed over to the police for investigation and possible prosecution by the state. Jigawa State government has reduced the official working hours in the state by two hours during the 2023 Ramadan period. This was contained in a statement signed by the State Head of the Civil Service, Hussaini Kila and issued to newsmen by his Public Relations Officer, Ismail Dutse. According to the statement, civil servants in the state would report to the office at 9 am and close by 3 pm between Mondays and Thursdays instead of 5 pm. “Furthermore, workers would report to work on Fridays by 9 am and close by 1 pm as usual,” he said. He explained that the gesture is aimed at providing more opportunities for civil servants to prepare for their Ramadan break and also to have more time to observe the spiritual activities of the Holy Month.
