Kenyan authorities have arrested a fake lawyer, Brian Mwenda, who has won 26 cases while parading himself as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.  According to reports, the lawyer handled 26 cases before High Court Judges, Magistrates, and Court of Appeal Judges before his arrest, all of which he won.  He was arrested by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nairobi Branch Rapid Action Team (RAT) for false pretences, when they received public complaints.  Nairobi Branch disclosed on their X account that he is not an advocate and does not have a license to practice law in Kenya.  “It has been brought to the attention of the LSK Nairobi Branch through the Rapid Action Team (RAT), that the man has been presenting and conducting himself as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of LSK Nairobi Branch,” read the notice in part.  

The Borno State Police Command has taken into custody individuals believed to be involved in the theft of train coaches owned by the Nigerian Railway Corporation at the Maiduguri Railway Terminus. The police made the arrest following a tip-off from good samaritans. The police say the suspects will be arraigned in court soon.

This past Friday, Hamas disregarded an Israeli command to evacuate around 1.1 million residents from northern Gaza as a precautionary measure in anticipation of a possible ground invasion into this densely populated Palestinian territory. “Our Palestinian people reject the threat of the occupation (Israeli) leaders and its call for them to leave their homes and flee from them to the south or Egypt,” the Islamist militant group said in a statement. “We are steadfast on our land and in our homes and our cities. Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf, a former Nigerian minister, has died aged 76. Yusuf, a former Senator from 1999-2007, died in the early hours of Friday at his residence in Kano after a brief illness. A family member, Alhaji Hussani Dalhatu, confirmed his death to newsmen. He said the late Sardauna of Dutse’s funeral prayer would take place after Jumu’at prayer at the Emir of Kano’s palace. Yusuf was born in Gwaram, Jigawa State, in 1947. He was Minister of Interior in 1981 and Minister of Commerce in 1982.

Hope Nwala, a resident of Okehi in the Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, has been apprehended by local authorities. The arrest comes in response to allegations that she poured hot cooking oil on her husband, Ekelediri Nwankwo, while he was asleep, following a heated disagreement.   She was apprehended by operatives of the Rivers State Police Command.   The suspect, who hails from the Obite community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, had fled Okehi after committing the the crime on October 11, 2023.    The spokesperson for the state Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the development on Thursday, saying the woman was arrested by operatives who had been on her trail.    “The wife has been arrested and is in Police custody.  Savannah Daisley has been accused of sleeping with a 14-year-old boy.   The wellness guru and heiress allegedly had s3x with the teenager before telling him “keep quiet”.   The alleged s3x act took place in late May 2021   Savannah Daisley pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated s3xual intercourse with a child under 16.    Police claim Ms Daisley, who is the daughter of champion horse breeder Ross Daisley, gave the teenager alcohol before allegedly having s3x with him, Downing Centre District Court in Sydney, Australia, previously heard.   It is then claimed she spoke to the boy on the phone and told him to stay quiet about the incident.    Ms Daisley was previously bailed after paying $100,000 for surety.   The 46-year-old is now living with her parents in the Southern Highlands, one of the conditions of her release. In a shocking turn of events, a woman has been taken into custody after her son allegedly buried his 11-year-old stepbrother alive.
